Following a request from Commissioner Andriukaitis, the HLG adopted during their 5th meeting (25 November 2016) the scoping paper for the topic “New techniques in agricultural biotechnology”.

This adoption follows preliminary discussion during the 3rd HLG meeting (25 July 2016), and a more detailed discussion with Commissioner Andriukaitis, during their 4th meeting (28 September 2016).

The SAM HLG received extensive support from scientific experts in its meetings as the NTAB steering group. The non-Commission experts who were invited to participate in the work of the steering group were nominated by the Science Advice for Policy by European Academies (SAPEA) consortium that is funded through the EU Horizon 2020 programme.
