Devgen nv (Euronext Brussels, DEVG) today announces the launch of a new rice hybrid, Frontline Gold RH 1531.
The population in India expands each year significantly. For this reason, the rice demand is predicted to increase substantially over the next decades. Rice farmers however will need to realize a higher yield with less resources, land and water, than they have available today. Frontline Gold RH 1531 can offer another important step forward to achieve this goal.
This rice hybrid was especially developed for the northeastern and western part of India where rice is mainly cultivated during the wet season. Frontline Gold RH 1531, a leading hybrid in 2009 DRR governmental trials*, benefits the farmer in multiple ways: high yield, superior grain quality, better tolerance to diseases & lodging and maturation in only 120 - 125 days.
Devgen is today one of the leading companies in hybrid rice, sorghum and sunflower in India employing over 200 people in 16 states. Quality products such as Frontline Gold RH 1531 will further strengthen Devgen's position in hybrid rice seeds and give farmers a product of their choice.
Sales of Frontline Gold RH 1531 are targeted to start in May 2010.
