ISF and Fair Planet Host ‘Seed Resilience’ Project Visit in Kigali, Rwanda
Kigali, Rwanda
March 2025
As part of the African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA) Congress tours, ISF, together with Fair Planet, hosted 25 delegates and journalists at the Horticulture Center of Excellence (HCoE) to learn more about the Seed Resilience Project.
Visitors stopped by the project’s trial greenhouses and open fields to see how different varieties of vegetables, like cabbage and hot pepper, were performing in local conditions. Representatives from the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), ISF, and Fair Planet then delivered short presentations to discuss the goals and objectives of the project, which is formally called "Harnessing Quality Seeds for Improving Food and Nutrition Security in Rwanda."
Some visitors then proceeded to visit farmers of the Gwiza Cooperative in Rwamagana district. These farmers are participating in the second phase of the project, which involves setting up 100 demonstration plots across Rwanda for farmers to learn more about these varieties and develop horticultural skills.
